Oklahoma

oklahomaIntroduction:

In the State of Oklahoma, they offer only a Governor’s Pardon. Before it is sent to the Governor, it goes through the Pardon and Parole Board.  An investigation is conducted and the Board determines what their recommendation to the Governor will be. There is a board meeting every month in which this is decided.  The clemency hearing schedule is available on the Pardon and Parole Board website.

Any persons convicted of a nonviolent felony may seek to have their record expunged after ten years.  As well, any persons convicted of a crime while under the age of 18 who is pardoned may seek to expunge their record.

Without a pardon you may not vote for a period of time equal to the length of your sentence.  If you are convicted of a felony, you may not hold any city or state job for 15 years unless you receive a full pardon. Any person pardoned for a nonviolent felony will regain the right to possess a firearm.

You must wait five (5) years after the discharge of the sentence in order to apply for a pardon.
