In the state of Minnesota, the process is called Pardon Extraordinary. To file a petition you must have 10 years passed since the date of conviction for a violent crime and five years since date of conviction for a non-violent crime. The Board of Pardons, which consists of the governor, the attorney general, and the chief justice of Minnesota supreme court, will determine if the person will be granted the Pardon Extraordinary. If granted the court shall order all convictions set aside and nullify the convictions. The applicant no longer is required to report the conviction unless applying for a state job such as Law Enforcement.
